It's all a journey
I've been a closet vegetarian my whole life, just didn't know it. Finally embraced the lifestyle in 2005. Saying goodbye to meat was painless and pleasing. I did like the taste so know it can be done. Felt liberating really. I've spent years educating myself. It took longer for me to address dairy and eggs. Stronger addictions. I sometimes fall. The bigger picture helps to put my beliefs into perspective. I do believe a vegan diet is ideal for the human body. I do believe it can reverse heart disease and type 2 diabetes and can prevent some cancers. I do believe it is the most environmental dietary lifestyle choice and could make an enormously positive impact on our world if (supply and demand) we no longer factory farmed animals. I like animals but was never an enormous advocate for them. I do believe that if we treated one another (people and animals) with reverence we could have a peaceful world. Chickens that are "happy" chickens are still sent to slaughter when the egg laying days are over. (Not happy)I am an idealist, ironically quite pessimistic at times but I do believe things could change for the better starting with one body and spreading to a universal level through a compassionate way of eating and being. I do have hope in that belief
